Plan to protect saplings: CM tells Collectors

Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the district Collectors to focus on protecting the saplings being planted as part of Haritha Haram across the State.

At a high level review meeting with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and other top officials, KCR asked the collectors to give top priority to protect the saplings. Expressing satisfaction over the green expansion drive getting complete support by people in the State, KCR said a plan must be prepared for the protection of the plants and to grow them through fencing, tree guards and watering on continuous basis. He reiterated that plantation of saplings will not serve the purpose as their protection to grow into trees is more important for better future. The Government officials taking part in the green drive should take responsibility for protecting them with a plan and Collectors should report to the Chief Secretary everyday about action plan being implemented.

On KCR’s directive, the Chief Secretary issued memos to the Collectors directing to prepare action plans to protect the saplings when rains play truant. The collectors and police officials should press fire engine tankers to supply waters to the saplings while municipal corporations, municipalities, grama panchayats can press in water tankers for the purpose, he said.
