PM Modi receives ceremonial welcome at State House in Nairobi

Nairobi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the State House here after paying homage and laying wreath at the mausoleum of first President of Kenya Jomo Kenyatta.

“The fourth welcome in 5 days, PM @narendramodi receives ceremonial honours at the State House in Nairobi,” Ministry of External Affairs’ spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

Earlier, the Prime Minister paid homage and laid wreath at the mausoleum of first President of Kenya Jomo Kenyatta.

“Homage to a great son of Africa, a friend of India. PM lays wreath at Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta, 1st Prez of Kenya,” tweeted Swarup.

“Remembering a towering personality of Africa & 1st President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta. PM pays his tributes,” tweeted the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

He would have a restricted meeting with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta at the President’s Office, followed by a delegation-level talk at the Credential Room, signing of agreements and a joint press statement.

The Prime Minister will also handover field ambulances and a model of Bhabhatron to President Kenyatta.

Thereafter, the Prime Minister will attend a lunch hosted by President Kenyatta at the Dining Hall of the State House.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will visit the University of Nairobi, where he will pay a floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, sign the visitor’s book and plant a sapling.

The Prime Minister will also address the students at the Taifa Hall. (ANI)
