Poet Dagh Dehlvi’s shrine gets face lift

Hyderabad: Noted poet Nawab Mirza Dagh Dehlvi was the teacher of Allama Iqbal. He won accolades in Hyderabad state during the period of VI Nizam Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. He was given the titles like Dabeeruddaula, Fasihul Mulk, Nawab Nizam Jung Bahadur, Nazim Yar Jung etc. He died in 1905 in Hyderabad.

Prof. S A Shukoor Director / Secretary Telangana State Urdu Academy in a press note told that admirers of Urdu and Dagh had constructed his grave with marble, 60 years after his death. Later no one took care of it, as a result his grave became precarious.

Mr. Syed Miskeen Ahmed General Secretary Anjuman Muhibban-e-Urdu Telangana made representation with Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali in this regard. On the direction of Deputy Chief Minister, Telangana State Urdu Academy cleaned, polished and whitewashed the grave of Hazrat Dagh Dehlvi.

Prof. S A Shukoor appealed Urdu lovers to attend the programme to be held on April 1, 2017 to pay tribute to the great Urdu poet.
