Police arrest stalker for sending vulgar messages

New Delhi: A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly harassing a girl by sending vulgar messages, pictures and making video calls in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area, police said today.

Ajay Kumar Pathak, a labour supervisor, was arrested from Gurugram yesterday, said DCP(West) Vijay Kumar.

On March 6, a woman filed a complaint alleging that she had been receiving vulgar messages, obscene pictures and whatsapp calls from an unknown number from March 2, the officer said.

The team focused on technical surveillance but it was found that the mobile number was not in use and a fake account had been created, he added.

After a case was registered, a trap was laid for Pathak and the girl called him for a meeting, following which he was nabbed, police said.

During interrogation, he told police that he had found a mobile phone lying on road in the December last year.

He threw the mobile phone but kept the SIM for creating a whatsapp account. After creating the account he started sending vulgar messages to several girls.

While surfing Facebook, he found the account of the victim and obtained her mobile number from her profile and started stalking her, the officer said.

The accused claimed he has harassed 10-15 girls so far but police haven’t received any other complaint against the accused.
