Police deny permission to Jagan’s ‘continuous’ hunger strike

Guntur: The Guntur police has denied permission to YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy for holding the “continuous” hunger strike – ‘Deeksha’ at a venue here.

The permission for continuous hunger strike has been denied on the grounds of interruption to traffic, Urban Superintendent of Police Guntur, S Tripathi said.

He said that the information was given to YSR Congress leaders yesterday.

Party leader Ambati Rambabu alleged that the AP government is trying to stop Jagan with a ‘political view’.

Besides Kalam, government is planning to celebrate Jaiprakash Narayan’s anniversary.

“We have Jayprakash Narayan anniversary on October 11. He is the saviour of democracy. You have seen what happened during the Emergency. Under his leadership, we have brought back democracy,” Naidu said.

“We have to highlight the life of great leaders and nobody should have objection to this. Why you should feel that others will be dwarfed by highlighting these persons,” he added.

He said Congress is disturbed because of the victory march of the BJP in the recently held elections and predicted the BJP win in Bihar also.

Countering Congress secularism barb against the BJP, Naidu said Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale and Asaduddin Owaisi are Congress creation and “it does not have moral right to talk on secularism”.

He said, “It is like devils quoting from scriptures because Congress has encouraged casteism, communalism. It has also joined hands with Muslim League with Kerala Congress and with all casteist parties. Right from Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale to Asaduddin Owaisi, they are all creations of Congress party.”
