Police Dept to organise competitions for Commemoration Day

The Telangana State Police is conducting the competitions in Photography, Short films, Best News Item and the   Best Story board in connection with ensuing Police Commemoration Day-2016, said Director General of Police Anurag Sharma here on Wednesday.

The DGP said that the competitions were introduced last year to create awareness and understanding the concept of People friendly police and their services to the common people. Police not only maintains Law and Order but also involving in social developmental activities along with people   like in  Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhageeratha, Swatch Telangana, Haritha Haram etc.,  which are the flagship programmes of the government, he said.

Last year, the competitions were conducted only in two categories of   Photography and Short duration films and this year two more categories are added to support for print and electronic media staff for the Best News Item published in newspapers and the Best News Story Board telecasts in media channels.

Anurag Sharma said that the theme of the competition for this year is “Smart Policing – Role of Social Media in Community Policing”. The competition is open for public for the first two categories in Photography and Short films,   whereas the next two categories, the Media persons who are working in print and electronic media are only eligible to participate.

The DGP further clarified that these competitions would be held at every district level in Telangana state and a Special Jury committee constituted for this purpose consisting of 8 to 10 members will be finalising the top best eight entries in every category as Award winners. The entire top best selected of every category from every district will be sent to the state level Awards for finalisation by the state level Jury committee.  The top best Eight Awards in every category will be given the cash prizes on the Police Commemoration Day on 21st October, 2016.

Anurag Sharma said that those who are willing to participate in the competitions  can submit their entries to the PROs working in the SP offices in every district and the participants of  twin cities can be submit to the PROs working in  CP, Hyderabad and CP, East and West offices as per the their jurisdiction. The last date for submission of the entries in all categories is 20th August, 2016. The rules and regulations and the clarifications, if any, may be obtained the from the district SP offices.

Inspector General of Police Soumya Misra will be coordinating the entire the process of competitions and awards. (INN)
