Police Foils Cong. Chalo Mallanna Sagar Reservoir

Telangana Congress leaders today asserted that the party would continue its fight against the state government for the sake of farmers across the state till they get justice.

Addressing a joint press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday after the release from the Goshamahal Police station, Congress leaders K Jana Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Madhu Yashki Goud, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Balaram Naik, Mallu Ravi, Nerella Sharada described the day of arrests of Congress leaders as “black day”, and killing of democracy who intended to console the Mallannasagar reservoir victims by visiting Vemulagattu village in Medak district.

They warned that the TRS government, which obstructed the Congress leaders visiting Vemulagattu village to console the injured people in police lathi-charge, will face the fate losing power if it continued its suppressive and undemocratic activities.

They condemned the arrests of Congress leaders, who launched a rally to visit the victims of Mallanna Sagar reservoir victims on Tuesday, at Gandhi Bhavan immediately after their launch of rally. They said that the Congress party has the responsibility of consoling the injured people as an opposition party in the state but the ruling TRS party was trying to suppress the voices of the opposition parties.

Bhatti said that the TRS government made the police to resort to arrests of the Congress party leaders, who tried to reach the Mallanna Sagar Reservoir victims to console them.

The police have arrested Congress leaders—Ponnala Laxmaiah, DK Aruna, Sabitha Indra Reddy, T Jeevan Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Balaram Naik, Damodara Rajanarasimha, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Madhu Yashki, Shabbir Ali and several other Congress MLAs, MLCs, former MLAs and MLCs MPs across the state.

He made it clear that the Congress party will not afraid of arrests and it will stand by the Mallanna Sagar Reservoir victims and will fight till the farmers get justice. “We will prepare an action plan and announce on Wednesday”, he said demanding the TRS government to initiate action against the police officials, who behaved cruelly against agitators.

Stating that the Chief Ministers like K Chandrasekhar Rao comes and goes, Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party will fight for the sake of farmers. He reminded the previous Congress government’s democratic behavior towards Telangana movement and alleged that the KCR government has killed the democracy in day light. Responding to a question, Shabbir Ali asked the Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who described Congress party as a Drama Company, to introspect himself first before criticizing the Congress party terming Talasani as a coward.

Stating that consoling farmers was not an undemocratic act, Jana Reddy said that obstruction and suppression was not proper act to the government. The government’s bad behavior reached to its peak, he said predicting that the government will face its down moments very early. He made it clear to the TRS government that the Congress party will not afraid of oppressions and obstructions and it will fight against TRS government till it implemented Land Acquisition Act-2013. The Congress party will continue its fight till justice was meted out to the farmer, he said.

Earlier the police detained all the Congress leaders at the Gandhi Bhavan obstructing the rally in the morning and shifted the Congress leaders to Goshamahal Police Station and Narayanaguda Police Station. Former Ministers DK Aruna and Sabitha Indra Reddy escaped from the scene and proceeded towards Vemulagattu village. But the police detained them also.

It may be recalled that the Congress party proposed to visit the Vemulagattu village to console the people injured in police lathi-charge two days ago in the name of ‘Chalo Mallanna Sagar Reservoir’. (NSS)
