UP: Police personnel thrashed for stopping vehicle of ex-MLA’s son

Shahjahanpur: A woman sub-inspector and a constable were allegedly beaten up with sticks after they stopped a vehicle belonging to the son of a former MLA and the BJP candidate from Powayan Assembly seat, police said on Thursday.

The former MLA Chetram Pasi’s son and his two friends have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place on Wednesday night.

Superintendent of Police Kamal Kishore said that SI Sushma Yadav and constable Ajay Malik were checking vehicles at Town hall crossing here last night and had stopped a car.

The driver of the vehicle was not carrying the necessary papers but the vehicle was allowed to pass when the driver told them that he is the son of the former MLA.

Soon after, a number of persons including the MLA’s son and his friends reached the spot and allegedly thrashed the SI and the constable with sticks, police said.

An FIR has been lodged.
