Political intervention causes huge loss to Waqf Board

Hyderabad: Intervention of persons belonging to ruling party, in the dealing of two key Dargahs of the state, has added to the problems of Waqf Board. Waqf Board faces a number of hurdles in connection with the management of Dargah Hazrat Saadullah Husaini Bada Pahad, Nizamabad and Dargah Jahangir Peeran. People having links with the government are becoming the cause of huge loss to Waqf Board.

Presently the management of both the dargahs is under the direct supervision of Waqf Board. Annual auction has been stalled due to connivance of Mujavirs and contractors. As a result Waqf Board’s revenue has been reduced.

In the dealing of Dargah Bada Pahad, agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy’s intervention emboldened the contractors who were not in favour of auction. Waqf Board’s revenue has dropped down to 27 lakh from 2.5 Cr annually. Several decisions were taken by Waqf Board to save devotees from the harassment of Mujavirs which were strongly opposed.

Similarly Chief Minister had directed to prepare developmental plan for the convenience of devotees of Jahangir Peeran. Public representatives of the ruling party are trying to dominate in the matter thus causing loss to the Waqf Board.
