Politicians spoiling sports: Congress

New Delhi : The Congress on Saturday targeted the Centre over the DDCA row, saying the interference of politicians for personal projection has spoilt sports.

“Rahul Gandhi is saying something which is widely appreciated and echoing a sentiment which has pervaded the nation. There is a very strong feeling today that sports should be left to sportsmen. There is a very strong feeling today that the interference of the politicians for personal projection has spoilt the sports arena,” Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi told ANI.

“It was the Congress which tried to control this, but failed. I think Rahul Gandhi has struck the right chord, which has great resonance among the country. That is why, people are responding to it. We hope and trust that in the light of the Lodha Committee recommendations, his statements will be taken due note of and an appropriate action in the direction will follow,” he added.

Earlier, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, while interacting with the students of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies students in Mumbai said politicians should keep themselves away from cricket.

“I don’t think politicians should be anywhere near the administration of cricket” he said. (ANI)
