Ponguleti demands CM to respond on Polavaram project issue

Congress senior leader and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao respond on the Centre’s decision of assigning construction responsibility of Polavarm project to Andhra Pradesh State in the forthcoming Apex Council Meeting to be held on September 21 in Delhi.

           

Speaking at the Assembly media point here on Friday, Ponguleti said Polavaram project to be constructed by the Centre as per Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, Bhadrachalam, Dummugudem and Manuguru towns will be affected if the Polavaram project was constructed with the present design. He demanded that the Centre construct the project itself it announced the project as a national project. “Something happened behind the screen. Match fixing took place among the Centre, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao”, he said and asked as to why Chandrasekhar Rao kept quiet. He also said he was addressing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. Ponguleti also asked the Prime Minister not to cause submergence of Khammam areas further and not to disturb the tribal people further as Telangana State has already given up seven mandals.

           

Warning the Chief Minister that the Khammam people will not keep silent if he failed to respond on the issue, Ponguleti said the Khammam people would wage a fight against it. He further said he will launch a signature campaign on the issue. (NSS)
