Popular roads to be facelifted in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Twenty-two busiest roads of Hyderabad will be white topped after the monsoon. These roads include Liberty, Durgam Cheruvu and Charminar. The road will be reconstructed and have stormwater drains, sewer lines, utility duct, footpaths, paved shoulders and markings.

“Unlike black-topped roads, white topped roads are cost-effective, require relatively less maintenance and have a life span of 10-15 years if they are not cut,” said GHMC, projects, chief engineer, reported DC.

The delay in administrative sanction of Rs 600 crore had delayed the project, it had to be started in summers. The list of these roads is below.

These white topped roads are made of Fly ash and polymeric fibre besides cement and sand, to strengthen the surface. It also keeps the road intact and prevents water logging.

The GHMC official said drinking water and sewerage pipelines and electric lines will be placed before the work will start. A white-topped road costs 75 lac per km.
