Telangana Discom has decided to increase power tariff from this year. However 70 percent domestic consumers will be exempted from this. Power tariff will be hiked for business and industrial houses. The overall revenue increase from the proposed tariff would work out to Rs.1,958 crore at the existing tariff with an overall increase of 42 paise per unit.
As per the revised tariff the energy charges have been increased from 65 paise to 72 paise per unit for consumption of 101-400 units and for consumption above 400 units, the tariff hike would be Re 1.
