Practise Yoga daily for good health: Rosaiah

In commemoration of the Second International Day of Yoga, a Yoga program was conducted at Raj Bhavan at Chennai today with the support of Department of Yoga, Tamil Nadu Physical Education & Sports University.

Governor Dr K. Rosaiah, officers and Staff of Raj Bhavan participated in the Yoga program. Loosening Exercises, Asanas, Pranayama, Relaxation, Meditation were performed.

The Governor said, “Yoga is a symbol of our nation’s rich cultural heritage. It harmonizes the soul, mind and body and refines inner self and it is the science of living”. He said the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have made the richness of yoga reach the nations across the globe with United Nations General Assembly declaring 21st June as the International Yoga Day.

Dr Rosaiah said, “Just as we pray, sit and dine together, we should develop the culture of practising yoga together at home”. The Governor appealed to people to practise yoga as a daily routine to harmonize life by building purity of mind, good health, developing inner self and controlling the body which can be achieved only by yoga, a release from Rajbhavan, Chennai said.

Dr R. Elangovan, Professor & Head, Dr.V.Duraisami, Asst. Professor, Deparment of Yoga, Tamil Nadu Physical Education & Sports University conducted the Yoga programme.Terapanth Jain Vidyalaya students  presented Yoga Books to the Governor. As per orders of the Governor, Ramesh Chand Meena IAS., Principal Secretary to Governor, K.V.Muralidharan, Deputy Secretary to Governor & Comptroller,  D.Mohan, Deputy Secretary (Universities) organized the program.
