President to visit Nepal between November 2-4

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee will pay a state visit to Nepal next week, the first by an Indian head of state in 18 years to the neighbouring country.

The three-day visit will begin on November 2 and a high-level delegation will accompany him.

“During the visit, the President will hold talks with the President, Prime Minister and other leaders of Nepal on a wide array of issues of mutual interest.

“The state visit reflects the priority that government of India attaches to further strengthen its age-old unique partnership with Nepal and our shared historical and cultural linkages and wide-ranging people to people contacts,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said here today.

He said apart from his engagements in capital Kathmandu, Mukherjee will also visit Jankapur and Pokhara adding Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had invited the Indian President to her country.
