Prez’s daughter-in-law denied ticket by BJP, announces to contest as independent

Lucknow: Deepa Kovind, wife of Pankaj Kovind, a nephew of the President Ram Nath Kovind has announced her decision to contest the post of chairperson of Jhinjhak Nagar Palika as an independent candidate after she was denied ticket by BJP.

Deepa has decided to contest against the official BJP candidate in Kanpur Dehat in the on-going municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh.

As reported by DC, Deepa said that she had applied for a ticket from the BJP but was denied the same.

President’s sister-in-law Vidyavati was also said to have applied for a ticket for the chairperson’s post but was denied the same. However, Vidyavati has decided not to contest the election now.
