Prof. Kodandaram meets CS for Hindalco revival

TJAC Chairman, Prof Kodandaram today urged the State government to take immediate steps for revival of Hindalco Company at Kollur plant that has gone defunct for inquiry which is getting delayed. He submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary SP Singh at Secretariat and urged him to expedite the inquiry. The TJAC appealed to the CS to follow the spirit of ease of doing business by the State government and avoid any hindrances to ensure that the company resumes its production.

Prof. Kodandram later told mediapersons that the plight of a large number of workers whose future hangs in uncertainty due to the delay in the inquiry being conducted into the industries located in the 10 km radius from Osman Sagar, Himayat Sagar lakes. Kodandarm said the company was not violating pollution and environmental norms and only the inquiry delay was causing a lot of concern to the workers. The company’s APPCB clearance will expire on May 31 this year and now that the TRS Government has to finalise the issue, he said.

The TJAC Chief said according to the Pollution Control Board, the Hindalco Industries falls under the category (Orange) that is second row from danger circle besides there are no complaints by local communities against the Hindalco Industries. (NSS)
