Prof. Shukoor’s memorandum to Sudheer Commission

Hyderabad: Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Telangana State Urdu Academy presented a memorandum to Sudheer Commission of Enquiry. In his memorandum, he demanded the Govt. to establish schools in Minorities Concentration areas with better infrastructure and congenial atmosphere and to provide free text books and scholarships. He also requested for the enhancement of Urdu medium seats in DIETs. He represented for filling up of the posts of Urdu medium teachers and lecturers and to setup cells in Secretariat and Districts Collectors’ offices for the implementation of Urdu as Second language. He expressed the need for the appointment of Urdu translators also. He said that where ever 10% students are available with Urdu as mother tongue, arrangement should be made for teaching Urdu as a subject and also to appoint Urdu teachers. He demanded the Govt. to recognize Urdu fazil course equivalent to Intermediate. He said that one minority member should be included on the selection committees. He mentioned that tourism literature should be printed and published in Urdu language also. Telugu-Urdu and Urdu-Telugu dictionaries should be compiled. Mr. M.A. Bari, member of the Sudheer Commission was also present on this occasion.
