Projects to AP more important than special status: Venkaiah

Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah  Naidu today said setting up of projects in the State are more important than granting special status to Andhra Pradesh.

Venkaiah was speaking after laying foundation stone for 30-bed hospital at Podulkuru village in Nellore district. The hospital would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 3.80 crore.

The Union minister said though the Centre had accorded special status category to 11 States in the country, they were still economically backward and striving to get projects from the Centre. It was the government’s aim to make the country corruption-free. The Centre has taken initiatives to improve skills of the youth, he added.

Venkaiah Naidu said there was a need to change the working conditions of Primary Health centers. Local MLA Govardhan Reddy, Venkatgiri MLA Ramakrishna, MLC Chandramohan Reddy, district Collector Janaki, district officers and public representatives also attended the function.
