Proposal to give prime Waqf properties on lease opposed

Hyderabad: A meeting of 5 sub-committees of Telangana Waqf Board was held at Hajj House today in which some key decisions were taken. Meeting of sub-committees of Finance, Legal, Development and Administration committees was held under the chairmanship of Waqf Board Chairman Mohammed Saleem. The committees opposed the proposal to give prime Waqf properties on lease and decided to develop those properties on its own.

Waqf Board will develop those properties with the support of the government so that the revenue derived from them could be directly received by the Board. Government has permitted to give 11 prime properties on lease for a period of 30 years; however Waqf Board is not ready to rely on the rents received through lease.

As per the recommendations of the sub committees, a resolution will be passed in a Board meeting to be held on August 7.
