Publicity drive: PIL filed against Pak PM in Islamabad HC

Islamabad : A petition has been filed against Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Islamabad High Court for using public money on publicity.

The plea filed by local politician, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, alleged that an advertisement showing the Prime Minister inaugurating Azan Khan Shaheed Montessori School was paid from the government’s budget, reported Dawn.

The petition claimed that advertisement was politically motivated since the campaign was meant to enhance the stature of the Prime Minister and all the works undertaken by his government.

The petition added that the funds were generated through taxes, which were supposed to be invested on infrastructure and development.

Chohan has requested the court to direct the finance division to recover the amount from Sharif.

A single-member bench of the High Court will hear the plea next week. (ANI)
