Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majitiha on Saturday unfurled the national flag which was upside down during an Independence Day function
at Guru Nanak Auditorium. Majithia, along with Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat and Commissioner Amritsar Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh saluted the national flag, which was upside down.
The mistake was not corrected even when Majithia delivered his speech and it was hoisted in the right position only when function was about to conclude.
Two policemen, including an inspector, were suspended for negligence and a senior officer was asked for an explanation.
The incident attracted a lot of traction on the social media and , was criticised for continuing his speech without paying attention to the upside down flag.
