Qazis urged to abide by Shariah laws while dealing with sensitive issues like talaq & Khula

Hyderabad: Chairman Telangana Waqf board Mohammed Saleem urged the Qazis to abide by Shariah laws while dealing with sensitive issues like talaq and Khula so that those issues do not become the subject of ridicule for others.

A delegation of Naeb Qazis called on Waqf Board Chairman on Monday and submitted a memorandum to resolve their problems. Mohammed Saleem assured sympathetic consideration. He referred to the ongoing issue of triple talaq and said Qazis can play key role in stopping such incidents. He advised that Qazis should atleast take 6 months time for counselling before executing divorce, thus they can prevent break ups in Muslim families.

Mr. Saleem said anti-Islamic forces are targeting Muslims on talaq issue; Islamic Shariah is being scorned on. He felt Qazis can play a role in this, by reducing the incidences of talaq and Khula in Muslim society. He also advised Qazis to participate in the campaign run by All India Muslim Personal Law Board for protection of Shariah. He asked Qazis to avoid collecting exorbitant amount for solemnising Nikah and executing talaq.
