Quake of 4.4 magnitude jolts Nepal’s Sindhupalchok district

Kathmandu: A light tremor of local magnitude 4.4 struck Nepal’s Sindhupalchok district on Friday morning.
According to the National Seismological Centre, Lainchaur, it has been listed as an aftershock of the Gorkha earthquake that rattled Nepal on April 25 last year.

The tremor was recorded at 5:10 a.m. local time and the epicentre was close to Motang of the district, reports the Himalayan Times.

It is the first significant aftershock that the National Seismological Centre has recorded after a week.

The last aftershock was recorded on March 28 with its epicentre at Sindhupalchok.

The NSC has recorded more than 30,000 aftershocks of the Gorkha earthquake sequence in one year. (ANI)
