R-Day celebrated with full fervour in Rajasthan

Jodhpur: Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh today unfurled the tri-colour and took the salute at an impressive Republic Day march past amid spells of rain.

The Governor awarded medals to police personnel, government officials and civilians for their exemplary services at the Umaid Stadium here.

Before presiding over the function, Singh paid rich tributes at the martyrs’ memorial at Gaurav Path early this morning.

Over 150 folk artists from four states presented enthralling performances at the function.

After the ceremony, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several projects for Jodhpur and attended various programmes of different communities.

In Bikaner, State Cooperative Minister Ajay Singh Kilak hoisted the national flag at Dr Karni Singh Stadium and inspected a parade by contingents of the Army, police and NCC.

He felicitated personalities for their exemplary work in their respective fields.

On the occasion, hundreds of students presented cultural performances.
