Rahul should visit Karnataka if concerned about farmer suicides: Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi: Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi should visit Karnataka if he is concerned about the increasing number of farmer suicides in the country.

“If he is really concerned about the farmers, I would challenge him to go to Karnataka. Let him step into the Congress-ruled states. Step in Karnataka where the maximum number of farmer suicides have taken place in the last few months,” said Sitharaman.

Rahul had earlier launched a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the amendments to the land acquisition bill during his visit to the drought struck area of Anantapur, which is infamous for farmer suicides in Andhra Pradesh.

“The same way PM wants land from the farmers, he wants to take away the right of special status of this state,” he said, while addressing the farmers. (ANI)
