Rain havoc: TPCC Demands Govt to Help Farmers

TPCC official spokesperson K Mahesh has alleged that the TRS government was least bothered about the rain, which was creating havoc for the last one week.

In a pressnote here on Friday, Mahesh stated the GHMC and Corporations across the State were not responding even though thousands of trees were uprooted by the torrential rain creating traffic jams and the people were living without power due to transformers failures. The streets under GHMC limits have turned into small tanks due to closure of manholes. The Municipal Administration Minister K T Ramarao was not concentrating on these burning issues though drinking water was polluted with rain water. He alleged that KTR was busy with Palair bye-election at the cost of people.

Ridiculing the statement of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hat he would transform Hyderabad city as another Dallas of America, was not even solving the drainage problems. He said crops in the villages were destroyed in the unseasonal rains. Mango and paddy crops were destroyed and the crops brought to the Market Yards were soaked leaving the farmers in helplessness conditions. “But the Agricultural and Marketing Ministers were not even consoling the distressed farmers”, he alleged.

The Congress leader demanded that the TRS government provide ex gratia to the farmers immediately, otherwise they would commit suicide. The Marketing Department must initiate steps to purchase crops though it was soaked 100 percent, he demanded. (NSS)
