Rain lashes city submerging low-lying areas

Several low-lying areas in the city turned into ponds and roads into canals due to heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon. Secunderabad, Warasiguda, Mettuguda and other areas submerged in the rain water. Vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt for a few hours and vehicle riders faced severe problems.

On the other hand, the GHMC officials became alert due continuous rainfall since the last two days. The GHMC staff entered the scene to clear the nalas, which were overflowing on Wednesday. Some 24 field level emergency teams, six central office emergency teams along with 51 special teams plunged into relief works. (NSS)
