Rain lashes Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: Rains today lashed several places in Punjab and Haryana which led to drop in temperatures in most parts of the two states.

Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, the MeT Department report said here.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 31.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal while Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul also recorded maximums of 35 degrees Celsius, 30.4 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius respectively.

Ambala, Hisar and Karnal recorded rainfall of 0.3 mm, 0.3 mm and 84 mm respectively.

In Punjab, Amritsar’s maximum settled at 33.5 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded a maximum of 33.1 degrees Celsius and 33.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Amritsar and Patiala received 12 mm and 2.8 mm of rainfall respectively.

In its forecast, MeT department said rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the two states tomorrow.
