Rajnath to chair meeting reviewing J-K package implementation

New Delhi : An inter-ministerial meeting will be held today at 11 a.m. to review the implementation of the Rs. 80,000 crore-development package for Jammu and Kashmir as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will preside over the meeting, which will be attended by officials and representatives from as many as 15 ministries and departments.

The Rs. 80,000 crore-package was announced by the Prime Minister in November 2015. So far, Rs. 17,000 crore have been released to the State Government by the Centre.

Around Rs. 40,000 crore out of the Rs. 80,000 crore-package were earmarked for improving road infrastructure.

Rs. 4,900 crore were entitled for improving health care facilities in the state which includes creation of two AIIMS-like institutions in both major cities of the state, and support for creation of infrastructure in hospitals and primary health centres. (ANI)
