Rajya Sabha adjourned following uproar over JNU, Rohith’s suicide

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien on Wednesday adjourned the house for 10 minutes following an uproar over Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula’s suicide issue.

With opposition trying to corner the Narendra Modi government over
Jawaharlal Nehru University row and Hyderabad University controversy, BJP and its allies have decided to aggressively counter Congress and the Left in Parliament over the issues.

Bahujan Samaj Party MP Mayawati raised the issue of Vemula’s suicide in the house.

Other BSP MPs started sloganeering against the central government and demanded justice for Vemula’s family.

Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, appeals to protesting MPs to let the debate on Rohith Vemula and JNU issues.

The budget session of the Rajya Sabha began on Wednesday.
