Ramadan in Hyderabad: City witnesses hike in the rates of palm dates

Hyderabad: It is impossible to think of Ramadan without palm dates. These days Begum Bazar Market is full of customers rushing for purchasing dry fruits including palm dates.

In order to meet the needs of the consumers in the month of Ramadan, 40 varieties of dates have been imported from Gulf countries.

According to the whole sellers of dry fruits, Hyderabad holds the top position in the entire country. The rates of different varieties of dates have gone up by 10-15%. Most of the customers are buying Irani and Iraqi dates which are being sold at the rate of Rs. 100-200 per kg whereas the other varieties of dates are sold at lower prices.

Ajwa dates which are produced in Madina are supposed to be of supreme quality. They are being sold at the rate of Rs 2000 per kg.

In addition to dates, other dry fruits like almond, cashew nuts etc are also being sold at higher rates.
