Rape victim alleges ‘unfair probe’ by police

Gurgaon: A 36-year-old rape victim has accused the police of conducting an “unfair probe” in her complaint and approached Gurgaon commissioner office and also filed a complaint through the CM Window in this connection.

The victim claimed that the woman police investigator, probing her case, threatened her and her husband and ask them to withdraw the complaint and “settle” the matter with the accused, Krishna Kumar, who raped her repeatedly and also filmed the act last year.

The victim’s husband, who works at a private firm in the city, said that they had filed a complaint against the accused with the women police station in sector-51 on November 2.

The accused was produced in court on November 3 and he got bail, he said.

“I and my wife approached the women police station twice last year and pleaded them to do a fair investigation and put the accused behind bars. But the officer would often ask us to take back our complaint and make settlement with the accused,” he alleged.

He also claimed that the lady officer also threatened him over phone and he recorded the conversation and submitted the tape to the Gurgaon police.

“The audio tape given by victim against the officer is being examined by experts. We are investigating the matter and appropriate action will be taken against the woman officer if found guilty of unfair investigation,” said Hawa Singh, ACP (PRO) Gurgaon police.
