‘Rapist godman’claims self genital mutilation; victim to undergo lie detector test

Thiruvananthapuram: The Trivandrum Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) court has ordered a polygraph test on the 23-year-old law student who bobbitised godman Ganeshananda by saying that she lacked confidence in the police.

Last month the women said in her police statement that she chopped off Ganeshananda’s genitals after years of sexual abuse.

The court has also dismissed the bail application of the godman and the state government is likely to transfer the case to the Crime Branch.

Ganeshananda has been charged under Section 376 (rape) and Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, as the sexual assaults started when she was a minor.

However Ganeshananda denied the woman’s statement, claiming that he himself chopped off his genitals for he reportedly saw no use with it. The sources attributed that the twists and turns in the case is due to pressure tactics by Ganeshananda’s followers.
