Rapper Badshah expresses desire to compose sad song

Mumbai: Rapper Badshah, who has given chartbuster peppy numbers like “Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai”, “Ladki Beautiful” and “Kaala Chashma”, says he can’t sing but would like to compose a sad song.

“I cannot sing I know that. But I would like to compose a typical sad song and I know I can do that. I think I can do it on better way. I will do it soon,” Badshah told PTI.

The rapper is a fan of 1990s music and has these songs on his playlist. “’Dil Hai Ki Manta Hai’ is the first song that I sang but I couldn’t sing. I listen to 1990s song and those songs were amazing, they just touch your heart.”

Badshah thinks melody and innocence is missing from today’s songs.

“Melody and innocence is something that is not there in all songs. I try to keep melody in my songs in my own style. Melody is something that will remain and stay with you.

“There is innocence that we are missing out in today’s songs. I think Jatin-Lalit, Anand-Milind sir used to capture the expression and turn into a great melody and its brilliant. Today people are brash so we bring brashness in songs and so it connects also with audience.”

Badshah will make his debut as a judge on singing reality show “Dil Hai Hindustani”.

“I am not nervous. I want to explore myself as an artist, judge the contestant. I am looking forward to the talent on the show,” he adds.

Joining him as judges will be filmmaker Karan Johar, music composer-singer Shekhar Ravjiani and singer Shalmali Kholgade.
