New Delhi: Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s visit to Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat has landed him in a controversy. The forest department has ordered an inquiry into the incident in which Jadeja got down from his jeep in Sasan Gir and posed for a photograph. Jadeja was accompanied by his wife Reeva and his friends.

Chief conservator of forests AP Singh said Jadeja had visited Sasan Gir on June 14 and June 15. “We have got photographs that show that he got down from his jeep and took photographs. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) J A Khan and PCCF Dinesh Mishra have taken note of this incident and have been asked to inquire into it. I have asked the Deputy Conservator of Forest (Headquarters) Ram Ratan Nala to conducted a probe and send a report,” Singh said.

According to senior officials, since he was a VIP guest, there is unlikely that the any action will be taken against Jadeja. However, forest officials may take action against two Range Forest Officers who are also seen in the photograph standing with Jadeja and his family in the Gir Forest.
