Ravula dismisses Jupally’s claims on Mahabnagar funds

Telugu Desam Party polit bureau member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy has rejected the allegations of TRS leaders that no amounts were spent on Mahabubnagar’s irrigation projects by the previous regimes.

Speaking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Tuesday, Ravula claimed that Rs. 500 crore were spent on Jurala while nearly Rs. 800 crore have been spent on other irrigation projects of Mahabubnagar district. He said that statistics have been procured from the Chief Engineer’s office and therefore, they could not be contradicted. He asked Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to tender an apology with the people of Telangana for issuing a misleading statement.

Ravula said if Jupally was really influential then he should get Rs. 1,000 crore funds from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to complete the pending irrigation projects which would irrigate about 8 lakh acres of land. He alleged that KCR was only indulging in tall claims and doing nothing practical for the welfare of agriculture sectors. He asked nearly 32 lakh farmers in Telangana were in distress due to poor monsoon. He said Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy should explain the reasons that drove 13 farmers of KCR’s home district Medak to suicide in the last 15 days. He said while the farmers have been suffering due to lack of water for irrigation and drinking, TRS leaders are busy in Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad. (INN)
