NEW DELHI: India’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani on Friday announced the launch of Jio “intelligent” phone, offering life-long free voice calls bundled with 4G data streaming at an “effective price of zero”.
Termed as “India ka smartphone,” JioPhone comes with refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500 that can be claimed at the end of 36 months of purchase and will be physically available from September 2017 to those who have pre-booked it.
The JioPhone will be available for user testing in beta mode from August 15 and for pre-booking from August 24 with deliveries will be on first come, first serve basis.
Preloaded with all Jio applications like Jio Cinema, Jio Music etc, JioPhone will come free with an affordable monthly plan of Rs 153. Jio has two sachet packs costing Rs 24 with validity of two days and Rs 54 that offers a week’s validity. the demand will surely be very high for this.

At the AGM meet, Mukesh Ambani said, “JioPhone to be most intelligent, affordable phone in the world — a 4G LTE phone supporting all 24 Indian languages.”
