New Delhi :French auto major Renault on Monday announced start of exports of its entry-level car Kwid and popular SUV Duster to Nepal from its Indian operations.

Renault marked its entry into the Nepal market by associating with one of the largest business groups – Vishal Group—in sync with its strategy to expand its presence in the SAARC region, the company said in a statement.

Renault India Operations Country CEO and MD Sumit Sawhney said: “Nepal is an important market for Renault’s growth in South Asia and we have carved out a clear-cut strategy to grow our presence in this important market with an ambition to be among the top players.”

He further said: “We are confident that Kwid and Duster will play a significant role in our expansion plans in Nepal.”

To begin with, Advanced Automobiles Pvt Ltd, a part of the Vishal Group, will sell Kwid and Duster in Nepal, where SUVs and hatchbacks are the growing segments.

Renault Kwid, manufactured with over 98 per cent localisation, is an example of ‘Make in India’ ideology and has been a great success which revolutionised the compact hatchback segment, the company added.
