Rescue operation failed; kid’s body lifted from borewell in Medak

The body of three-year-old Rakesh, who fell into a borewell in Bommareddiguden thanda under Pulkal mandal of Medak district on Saturday, was retrieved on Sunday.

The child, son of Bairu Sailu and Mogulamma couple, who was playing with his sibling Balesh, accidentally fell into the 4-foot deep borewell on early Saturday morning. Hectic efforts to lift the boy from the borewell proved futile and nearly after 24 hours, the rescue workers retrieved the body, which was trapped amid the rocks in the pit. The rescue workers retrieved the body after digging a parallel hole with three JCBs and two earth-movers. A medical team also pumped oxygen into the borewell. The personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had continued rescue operation throughout the night but in vain. (NSS)
