The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said that it respects the Supreme Court decision to restart the trial against senior party leaders in Ayodhya issue.
“In multiple trials over the last 25 years, our senior leaders were tried and exonerated by both CBI Court and Allahabad High Court. We are very sure of the dismissal of these baseless charges on them, after this trial too. Our leaders have the courage to face the retrial and come out clean for the larger cause they have been fighting for, all these years,” BJP Spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said in a statement.
Supreme Court today permitted the retrial and fast tracked it to be completed within two years.
“This episode of a retrial on our own party leaders initiated by CBI also highlights the independence with which the enforcement agencies and courts are functioning under the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our central government does not interfere in the independent functioning of any branch of the state,” the BJP leader said. (INN)
