Minority Welfare Department woke up from deep slumber following the publication of report in Siasat Daily regarding the affairs of Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid. A retd. Deputy Superintendent of police has been appointed as superintendent of Makkah Masjid besides that the term of present manager of Shahi Masjid has been extended for another 1 year.
It must be recalled that a report was published in Siasat Daily on December 15 regarding alleged irregularities in the affairs of both Masajid and non-extension of terms of Imams and superintendents.
Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel issued GO RT 222 and appointed Mr. M A Qadeer Siddiqui retd DSP as Superintendent Makkah Masjid with immediate effect. He also issued GO RT 220 and extended the term of Yousuf Khan Manager Shahi Masjid Bagh-e-Aam for one year.
Interestingly the term of the two Imams of Makkah Masjid has also expired but orders were not issued for extension of their term though they are more deserving.
