Revanth alleges govt apathy towards farmers

Continuing his tirade against the TRS government, Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy today alleged that due to the negligent attitude of the State government the area under irrigation in the State has come down.

Speaking at the media point on the Assembly premises today, the TDP leader said there was no relation between the actions and promises of the TRS before and after the last elections. He said the State government has virtually done nothing to help the distressed farmers. He alleged that while 2,700 farmers committed suicide in the State. the government paid ex gratia only to 40 families of the deceased  farmers at the rate of Rs six lakh each. He said his party has collected details of all farmers, who committed suicide and demanded that ex-gratia to all the families of the deceased farmers.

Revanth Reddy also asked the State government to release Central government’s in-put subsidy to farmers with its share  and demanded action against those who supplied fake and sub-standard seed. These firms should be booked under PD Act, he demanded. He also said the government should pay Rs 40,000 per acre compensation to those, who suffered loss to their crop due to fake seed.(NSS)
