Rio de Janeiro (Brazil): Indian racewalker Khushbir Kaur produced a disappointing performance as she finished her Rio Olympics campaign at lowly 54th position in the women’s 20km walk race on Saturday.

Khushbir, who did superbly well to qualify for the Olympics, failed to improve on her personal best of 1:33:07 and ended up finishing the race with a time of 1:40:33 in Pontal.

Meanwhile, Sapna Punia, the other Indian in fray, failed to even complete the race as she dropped out after the 8km mark.

China’s Liu Hong won gold with timings of 1:28:35 while Mexico’s Gonzalez Maria Guadalupe and LU Xiuzhi of China bagged a silver and a bronze medal respectively.

Earlier, Sandeep Kumar, who competed against 79 other athletes at the Rio Olympics, made a 35th-place finish in the men’s 50 km race walk of the prestigious quadrennial tournament.(ANI)
