Rise in child sexual abuse cases in Pakistan – Watchdog

Islamabad: A new watchdog report claimed that there is an increase in child sexual abuse cases in Pakistan. They said that most of the victim aged between 6 and 10.

Report also claimed that more boys are sexually abused than girls. According to the report, the number of boys being abused increased by 4.3% in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period last year.

Mumtaz Gohar, Spokesperson of Sahil, a NGO working against child sex abuse said that the reason for more boys sexually abused than girls is that more boys go out of the home. Another reason is that sexual abuse of girl goes un-reported, he added.

Activists who are working to fight against sexual abuse said that they face difficulty as victims do not want to speak out.
