Roja’s suspension was not proper: Suresh Reddy

Former Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today opined that the suspension of YSRCP MLA R K Roja was not in conformity with democratic spirit though Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao maintaining that Roja was suspended as per traditions of Legislative Assembly.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Suresh Reddy said Roja’s suspension was against the spirit of House proceedings. Nowhere in the world, such incidents took place in the history of Legislative Assemblies. Stating that the presiding officers take decisions according to situations, Suresh Reddy made it clear that the decision of the House was final.

Suresh Reddy said the Ethics Committee examined Karanam Balaram’s remarks seriously as the latter made grave allegations against none-other than the Speaker of the House. The Opposition leaders too extended their support to the suspension of Balaram. Speaker has no chance to give an answer to the member, who criticized the Speaker in and outside the House. (NSS)
