Ronaldo answers through gesture rather than words, throws mic into lake

Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo’s video gets viral this time which shows him throwing a reporter’s microphone into the bottom of a lake.

The Real Madrid superstar was in no mood to talk when a reporter from the TV station of Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha approached him during a morning team walk at a lake in Lyon, just hours before Portugal’s final Group F game against Hungary on Wednesday.

The reporter said: “Ronaldo, are you prepared for this game today?”, to which the three-time Ballon d’Or winner said nothing, wrestled the microphone from his grasp and chucked it into the water.

“Ronaldo was frustrated by his poor performances,” Jose Delgado, a correspondent for Portuguese daily said.

“The hours before the game are always difficult for the players and I don’t think it’s a good idea they mix with journalists because things like this may happen,” he said.

“Ronaldo has been anxious in the last few days because he didn’t play well in the opening two games. Let’s see what he can do against Hungary and if he can come to his usual level.”

He also drew criticism after slamming Iceland for their “small mentality” after the minnows held Portugal to a 1-1 draw in their opening match.

There is a history of bad blood between Ronaldo and Correio da Manha, who he successfully sued after the Portuguese newspaper printed details of his private life.
