Rooney casts doubts over Man U’s top four PL finish

London : Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has admitted it will be ‘tough’ for his side to make a top four Premier League finish after they were held to a 1-1 draw against top-ranked Leicester City at Old Trafford.

Although Louis van Gaal’s side were able to postpone Leicester’ hopes of clinching the trophy at the Old Trafford, their chances of qualifying for the next year’s Champions League still remain under shadow.

Rooney, who was selected as the midfielder on a permanent basis, said he was feeling quite disappointed with the result especially after his side displayed a much better performance.

“After they scored, we were a little bit off it, but we came out second half and I felt we dominated those 45 minutes. It’s going to be tough to get in the top four now, we felt before this game we had to take maximum points from our remaining games,” Rooney was quoted as saying by goal.com.

With just two games left, United are standing fifth in the league table and are lagging four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.

They will next play against Norwich City on Saturday. (ANI)
