Rs 1 crore released for Makkah Masjid facelift

Hyderabad: Telangana State Waqf Board on Saturday issued a cheque for Rs 1crore for makeover project of Makkah Masjid. A package for conservation work of the historic Makkah Masjid was announced a year ago.

Department of Archaeology and Museums was given the cheque to use it for roof repairs among other conservation work. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.

The Times of India has quoted Telangana State Waqf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem as saying, “The funds will be used in the best manner possible. The officials of the Department of Archaeology are experts in the work. As for the remaining amount, it will be paid as and when the work progresses.”
