Rs 100 cr for Dindi land acquisition: Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today alleged that the Andhra rulers have deprived Telangana of its share of irrigation waters by adopting a policy of issuing GOs for the region and gaving projects to Andhra region.

Replying to members during question hour in the Assembly, he said that Rs 100 crore was released for land acquisition for Dindi project. Water will be supplied to Ibrahimpatnam, Maheshwaram segments through Dindi and Palamur Lift project by calling tenders soon, Harish stated. The irrigation minister slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for writing against these projects to the Centre. Despite adopting the backward Palamur district, Naidu failed to give waters to a single acre during his nine year rule, he said.

He said that Naidu took up Pattiseema project without permission. Naidu who did not find fault with Palamur and Dindi projects before bifurcation, is now telling that they are illegal projects, he deplored. The Telugu Desam leaders from Telangana should ask their boss Naidu if they have any commitment for Telangana in this regard, he challenged. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is determined to complete the projects on a war footing and supply waters to drought hit areas in the state, he said. Of 299 tmc allotted, Telangana is now using 90 tmc waters from Krishna and we can make use of 344 tmc waters, he stated.(NSS)
